The Year of Living Unusually

Most Americans would agree that 2020 has been a weird, frustrating year, and for many of us it’s been downright brutal. Filled with unimaginable hardships, unimaginable anguish.

I’ve had it relatively easy. I’ve hunkered down here at Delaney Manor (not too far from where Char has been hunkered down, impatiently waiting for me to tell her next story) and have been staying safe during the pandemic. So basically living in my cave. But cave-dwelling isn’t ideal for creativity, and the “stringing words together in an amusing way” part of my book writing process has been slow going to say the least. The good news though is that the creative juices have been getting juicier by the day. (Probably because Char and Lucille won’t leave me alone!) Maybe I’m entering into that new state of normal I keep hearing about. Whatever is going on, I’ll take it because the page count of the next Working Stiffs mystery is once again growing. Hallelujah!

Yes, slowly but surely, A Kiwi Before Dying, Working Stiffs Mystery #8, is coming together and should make its way into the world in early 2021. I know. Not at all as soon as we all had hoped, but now that I’ve baked all the sourdough that my hubby can stomach, and I’ve finished binging Gilmore Girls, I’ve crawled out of my cave and I’m ready to roll…er…write.

I’ll provide another update as we get closer to the release date of A Kiwi Before Dying, so be sure to check back. In the meantime here’s a preview of the book cover. I get a chuckle out of the way the cat is looking at that knife!

Stay safe, stay healthy, and know how much I appreciate you stopping by.
